About us
Loco Running Pty Ltd is managed by two long term runners, Kevin Tiller & Kevin Molloy, both based in Sydney.
Kevin Tiller
Kevin Tiller started running as a 16 year old youth to help
him get fit whilst studying for exams in London, England. He
moved to Australia in 1990 and continued to run in as many
fun runs as he could - today he has run more than 75
marathons with a best time of 2hrs 49mins, many of these are
ultramarathons - longer than a marathon - his best effort
being 176km
in 24 hours.
He spent almost 10 years serving on the
committee of the Sydney Striders
running club, in various positions from database manager,
uniform manager and Vice-President. He has served as
official course marker for the Sydney
Trailwalker event from 2000 to 2004, an event that makes
over $1 million per year as a fundraiser for Oxfam.
He is
still serving on the committee for the Australian Ultra Runners
Association - previously he has been the NSW
representative for A.U.R.A.
Currently he is the race
director for Australia's 5th largest marathon, the Six Foot Track Marathon,
held each year in the NSW Blue Mountains.
He helped to start
the CoolRunning Australia website in 1997, which he is still
very actively involved with - this is now the largest
Athletics website in Australia. In 2003 he was invited by Athletics Australia
to join the Running Australia Participation Committee to
help guide & assist Fun Runs in Australia. He is marrried to
a committed runner, with 3 young children.
Kevin Molloy
Kevin Molloy has been a runner and fitness enthusiast all of his life. In 1988 he and his family moved to the Boston area on a IT related relocation. In 1992 he established a running club (Squannacook River Runners in a small New England town of Groton, MA. At the same time he started a local road race know as the Groton Road Race which under his direction over a ten year period blossomed into a 3000 person 10K, 5K, 2K and tots series of events.
In 1995 out of frustration with the limited resourses availaable for event promotion he decided to establish an online running magazine for that sole purposes of propmoting events using Internet technology. Ten years down the road the coolrunning.com site is one of the most respected in the world of running with over 6 million pages downloaded every month. In 1997 a Coolruning Australia was spun off followed in 1999 by Cool Running New Zealand. Kevin is still active with the Cool Running web site.
In early 2003 he became aware of the development of a new line of running shoes in the USA (Loco) with a product line that was targetted to what runners really wanted and a sales methodology that was grass-roots by nature. He grabbed at the opportunity to be part of a small team that is bringing the product to Australia.
